Our story
Mamma G’s is a tribute to Joyce Gambaro.
The Gambaro story begins in 1937 in Falerna, a small village in Calabria, where Michael Gambaro was born. In 1950, at just thirteen, he made the long journey to Australia with his family’s recipes and their traditions in his hands. Three years later he bought a shop on Caxton Street.
But before all of that, and behind all of it, there has always been the family kitchen. And in the family kitchen, there has always been Joyce.
Mamma taught us how. This is our way of saying thank you.

Opening Tuesday 29 September 2026. From opening day we are open seven days a week, 5:30am - 7:00pm, 7 days.

Catering starts the week after we open. Focaccia boards, antipasto platters, grazing tables and arrival boxes are all coming. Platters are made fresh to order, so once we are running the more notice you can give us the better. See what is on the catering menu, or call the deli on (07) 5609 6766.
Hampers start the week after we open. The Landing begins at $180 and the Beach Picnic at $90, each with a larger size, and we will build to order for Christmas, corporate gifting, birthdays and thank-yous. See what is going in them.
Gift cards are coming soon, both in store and online, and will be spendable on anything in the shop. The Mamma G’s cap and tote bag are at the counter from opening day at $15 each. More on gift cards and merch.
Plenty. The focaccia range changes daily and always includes vegetarian fillings, and the pantry, produce, cheese and sweets sections are worth the trip on their own. If you have an allergy or a specific dietary need, talk to the team at the counter and they will walk you through what is in everything.
